Foaming Bath Sugar Scrubs

How The Bubble Bath Shop Began…

In 2011, I formed The Bubble Bath Shop, however, I was never able to devote the time to run it on a daily basis. I always knew I wanted to have a beautiful store that smelled amazing as soon as you came in the door! I wanted the whole experience to awaken your senses when you walked in! It was a dream that was ready to begin!

Wanting A Career Change. The Bubble Bath Shop is totally opposite from my other business of construction, and my other business was consuming within the community and took most of my time. We are Georgia State Licensed contractors by trade and had many different kitchen & Bath showrooms. Through the years we earned Contractor of the Year, and Contractor of the Year for the Southeast.

Life Took A Different Path. In 2013, our family experienced a parent’s worst nightmare with the suicide loss of our son Michael. He was 22. My son had been overdosed with meds from a very reckless doctor.

In our construction business, we were in the middle of adding a new showroom in Marietta. When our son’s death happened, we decided to close the second Woodstock shop and just stay in one location.

Our Business Shifted. In 2019, when the pandemic was beginning, and I could see a shift in our business. No one really wanted extra people in their homes during COVID, so this put a halt on new projects. So, the time to pursue my passion was finally found. I found a small space in our showroom that could be used for me, and I created a “lab” and a personal space to start making products. I began putting my focus towards the manufacturing of my products at night and on weekends. I was hopeful of getting The Bubble Bath Shop finally off the ground.

As I began the development of my new business, I wanted to focus on what I had just been through with the loss of Mike, how I felt, and what it was like to experience this, and what recovery was going to look like.

Changes in the Family. My older son was now making plans to move forward with his life, and asked his girlfriend to marry him. As of 2024, we have now been blessed with 4 beautiful grandchildren!

My husband and I were still running our showroom in Woodstock, but as I began my new journey, I knew somewhere in the back of my mind I needed to move forward myself. I will admit that at times I wanted to crawl into a hole. God is, and was, my refuge. My motivator was that maybe I could give a little peace to someone else who was walking a journey like mine.

My husband and older son both play piano as a hobby. My older son has since turned his hobby into a business, and his teaching piano is flourishing. My husband had begun working on his talents and the development of his own band. Now, finally it was my turn. It was time for the Bubble Bath Shop to get started!

Bringing Awareness and Comfort. The first candle I ever made was my awareness candle, in lavender. As a survivor of suicide and the loss of my son, I now had firsthand knowledge of what that feels like. During my dark times, I would have given anything for just five minutes of peace. If that meant lighting a candle or drinking a cup of tea, even small comforts seemed to matter to me. I wanted to be able to help people honor their loved ones and find even just a moment of peace.

Then someone stopped me and said ‘Suicide is depressing. Don’t center your business around the topic’. I sat with this advice and thought yes, that is a correct statement. I turned my focus to other items I wanted to bring into my shop. Yet, I kept feeling a tug in my soul. I tabled the thoughts on awareness products for the time being. In 2013, suicide had not turned to the epidemic it is today. There is not enough discussion shared about it.

Sharing Hope and Support to My Community. I decided to become proactive in awareness for the county where I live, and for my business is located. The Bubble Bath Shop is proactive in supporting Cherokee County’s efforts in bringing awareness to our community and by sharing my personal story. I speak with people every day who are struggling. I believe sharing my experience can save lives! As a Christan, that is what we are supposed to do- help one another.

The Trademark Image of my Logo is a pink goat sitting in a bathtub (for goat milk soaps, and a tribute to my son Mike). We truly believe he was the Greatest of all time: The GOAT (Greatest Of All Time), so the Goat is on our label.
